INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Dear colleagues,
The Rwanda Society of Anaesthesiologists (RSA) is happy to welcome you to the 8th All Africa Anaesthesia Congress (AAAC) to be held in Kigali on September 7-10, 2022.
We value your interest to visit this website to submit your abstract(s).
Important dates:
- Submission deadline is June 24, 2022
- Decisions to accept abstracts will be sent out by July 15, 2022
- Presenters have until August 1, 2022 to confirm attendance
- The presentation may occur any day during the AAAC, scheduled September 7-10, 2022
General information:
- Presentations can be make in-person (or by pre-recorded video)
- Presentations must be given in English or French
- The theme of the conference is Innovation and rejuvenation in the post-pandemic era
- You will have to choose the theme that is covered by your abstract;
- Sub-theme 1: Innovation and rejuvenation in clinical practice
- Sub-theme 2: Innovation and rejuvenation through data, quality, and collaboration
- Sub-theme 3: Innovation and rejuvenation in anesthesia education
- Sub-theme 4: Innovation and rejuvenation of the anesthesia workforce
- All abstracts will be considered for poster presentation.If you would also like to be considered for podium presentation, please indicate this on the submission form.
- All abstracts should represent original research that has not been previously published in a journal or another conference.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
- Submissions must be in English (or French)
- The main body should not go beyond 300 words.
- 100-character limit for title
- The text should be in Times New Roman font 12.
- One table or one figure is allowed if needed.
- Key words: authors should provide at least 4 key words for this abstract. Your abstract should have the following components:
- A title,
- A list of authors where the presenter and the corresponding author should be specified,
- Affiliations of authors
- Corresponding author’s email
- The main body: background, aims or objectives of the study, short description of the methods, results and conclusion.
- Abstracts should be free from commercial bias. The generic name must be used. The trade name may also be included (in brackets) after the first use of the drug name.
Authorship
- No more than ten authors can be added to the abstract.
- All submissions MUST identify a presenting author.
- All correspondence will be sent to the presenting author. It is his/her responsibility to communicate this information to any additional authors.
- All presenting authors MUST register for the AAAC and pay the appropriate registration fee by TBD. Failure to do so will result in the automatic withdrawal of the abstract. If the presenting author is unable to attend the meeting, please notify us of an alternate presenter. The alternate presenter must be a co-author of the research.
- The presenting author is required to disclose any real or perceived conflict of interest on behalf of all authors, in relation to the material to be discussed.
- The presenting author and all co-authors for all abstract submissions must state any conflicts of interest at the bottom of the form. The submission will not be considered final until all disclosure information is complete.
- All abstracts submitted must adhere to the Declaration of Helsinki’s ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects and the rules laid down by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors in their Recommendations for the conduct, reporting, editing, and publication of scholarly work in medical journals. This requires that all research (clinical or experimental in humans or animals) must have approval or an exemption from a suitable Institutional Review Board (IRB), Independent Ethics Committee (IEC) or Ethical Review Board (ERB). If this does not exist, the abstract will be rejected.
PUBLICATION GUIDELINES
Publication
- If accepted for presentation at the congress, the abstract will be published as entered into the abstract submission program.
Selection:
- All abstracts will undergo a blind review by the AAAC Scientific Committee.
- Abstracts will be judged in five areas:
- Originality (20%)
- Methods (20%)
- Data analysis (20%)
- Conclusion (20%)
- Clinical Relevance (20%)
